NO TO AI GENERATED IMAGES

NO TO AI GENERATED IMAGES
I'm joining artists friends and colleagues all over the world against unregulated AI models and platforms.
Here there are some copy/pasted motivations that best captured the whole point of the discussion, gathered by my fellow artist Rita Mira.

"AI databases are built off stolen, unlicensed images.
When you pay these companies, you're paying art thieves.
It is the work of artists that have trained their algorithms. AI developers are pillaging the works of thousands of artists and photographers for their own profits."

"Regardless of all the other discussions and problems with AI art: ArtStation is simply not the place for it. At least not without a proper tagging and filtering system.
This is the primary hub where art directors look for talent to hire for their projects. If it becomes flooded with AI art, the art directors AND the artists will leave and a new site will replace ArtStation. The fact that even the marketplace is filled with huge packs of AI art completely destroys the integrity and primary functions of this platform."

AI developers should:
1. wipe out their "diffusion datasets": the sources to train them were obtained without consent and not aimed for commercial use in the first place.
2. rely on copyright-free sources only and set up an opt-in system to guarantee consent.
3. compensate artists and people who's pictures were involved in the training process, just like any standard licensing for commercial use.

They did so for music AIs since the beginning. They could as well do the same for visual AIs. But guess what?
They deliberately chose to scam us all. This is unacceptable.
Websites like Artistation should not avail this behavior toward real, human being artists.
